Welcome to NYC Summer Baseball

We are a casual baseball league in Fresh Meadows, Queens. The league's roots trace back to 2001 as a friendly scrimmage between a group of friends representing two of New York City's finest high schools, Stuyvesant High School and The Bronx High School of Science. The teams played four games that summer at a field in the shadow of the World Trade Center before many of the players went off to college. The teams split the games, 2-2.

The league's original field was destroyed on 9/11, and in 2002 the two squads continued their competition at Kissena Corridor Park (also known as Peck Park) in Queens before moving to nearby Cunningham Park in 2008, where the league plays today.

In 2015, random passerby named Ruben Molina Sr. asked to play with us, whom we happily welcomed. He quickly became a league regular and gradually recruited several members of his family, including his son, two brothers, and several nephews. In the years following, the Molina family and their friends accounted for up to 40% of the league's roster spots. Without their efforts, the league would not have had enough players to stay afloat.

In 2020, a Korean church league that also played at Cunningham Park disbanded due to COVID-19. Many of their players joined the pickup games throughout the year, often allowing us to have two simultaneous games. By the end of the year, it was decided to create an organized league of four teams, which started in 2021. New teams are picked every year to maintain friendly competition and camaraderie among all players.

Remembering Steve Quito

We are all saddened by the passing of Athletics captain Steve Quito.

Steve started playing in our league in 2023 as a guest for the Cardinals. His indelible love of the game quickly earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. He later played for the Padres in 2024 and Diamondbacks in 2025 before captaining the Athletics in 2026.

Steve was a dedicated teammate and friend to all of us. His spirit, determination, and kindness will stay with us forever.

Where We Play

Subject to availability, we play most games at Cunningham Park Fields 18 and 19 at the corner of Francis Lewis Blvd and 73rd Ave in Fresh Meadows, Queens. Backup options include fields on the opposite side of 73rd Ave, as well as the fields on Union Tpke and 193rd St. Many games in the fall are played at the backup fields due to 18 and 19 being used for football.
