Roger’s Same Dad defeated Dave’s Different Mother 8-6.

Since Roger and Dave have been confused for one another on multiple occasions, the two were bound to face off against one another. Unsurprisingly, they ended up choosing virtually even teams. After the game, when asked if he thought the two captains looked alike, Thomas said he could see it, and figured the two share a father, but have different mothers.

Hozai, Bill, Kaplan, and Wilson flaked, some directly due to the rainy morning weather. Ruben Sr. questioned their love of the game. Literally, he asked, “Where is the love of the game?” on the email string.

The maintenance work done to get rid of the puddles is much appreciated. You men are the real heroes.

Davy needed a triple to hit for the cycle in the 8th inning, so he bunted for a single. Now with 40 hits on the year, Andrews is 10 away from tying the all-time single season hits record.

Hector received his first loss of the season despite a valiant effort.

Different Mother’s pitching managed to strike out 14 Same Dad batters in the loss - which as most math fans know means they got more than half their 27 outs on Ks. Same Dad struck out six.

Josh always knows how many outs there are. If you don’t know how many outs there are, Josh is your guy.

With Mike umping, Mangan was upset at a pitch he felt was erroneously called a strike to put the count at 0-2. After not swinging at the next pitch, Mangan flung his bat in the air, turned his back, and walked off towards the dugout in frustration. After a few steps, Mike pointed out that he had not technically called the pitch a strike. Two pitches later, Mangan struck out looking.

In the second inning, Kevin allowed a double before coaxing Alvin into a pop up, Andres to a fly out, and Thomas to a line out, all in six pitches.

There was great fielding from the Same Dad outfielders today. Johan in right field managed to impressively snag a diving fly off of Kareem’s bat in the 8th. Mike claimed that his diving catch to rob Andres of a hit was only the second time he ever dove on defense. (The first time “did not go very well” and occurred at Peck.) Kevin made a diving catch to end the game, and later said it was the first diving catch he made with his new glove.

Mike believed all game long that his team was losing, when in fact Same Dad had only trailed for two half innings.

Roger threatened to put the game under protest multiple times, after awhile just doing so for the fun of it all. The most serious occurred when Hector accidently kicked a live ball after scoring, which interfered with catcher Roger’s attempt to field the ball and try to throw Sergio out attempting to advance to second. After two minutes of arguing, no interference call was made. After the game, Fausto asked Roger when he was going to send the inevitable email where he explains the rule, so he can know to ignore that email. It’s a shame that Fausto isn’t reading this because apparently if it’s unintentional Hector was free to kick the ball all damn day. Fausto was right and he will never know #tragedy.
